Beverly Williams is an Arkansas native with thirty-eight (38) plus years in the education arena with thirty (30) of those years in progressive administrative experience: including, the Arkansas Department of Education, the Little Rock and Pulaski County Special School Districts.  Beverly obtained her Master’s Degree in Education from the University of AR and her Bachelor’s degree in areas of Mathematics and Education from Hendrix College. 

 

While serving the state as the Assistant Commissioner, she partnered with the General Counsel of the Arkansas Department of Education in reviewing the various Professional Practices structures across the nation.  During the 2007 General Assembly, legislation was written that created Arkansas’ first Professional Licensure Standards Board with the charge to create a Code of Ethics for Arkansas Educators.  Due to this work, Beverly was honored as The 2012 National Recipient of the Doug Bates Award. (Doug Bates was an attorney at the Federal level whose mission was to protect children.)

 

Beverly also partnered with the Confucius Institute at the University of Central Arkansas (UCA), where she led the AR delegation to Beijing, China to sign a five (5) years memorandum of understanding between the Arkansas Department of Education and Hanban.  This MOU began the partnership to bring have Masters degreed teachers from China to teach Mandarin Chinese to Arkansas students beginning in the fall of 2008 to the present.

 

Most recently she has served as a consultant for the Hawaii Teacher Standards Board and conducted training on ethical standards for their board members.  She is also doing some consulting work for the Pulaski County Special School District in the area of mathematics instruction as well as the new Jacksonville North Pulaski School District as they develop their employment information.
