45th ANNUAL SHERWOOD FEST SCHEDULE SET
The City of Sherwood Parks & Recreation Department is planning its 45th Annual Sherwood Fest for Saturday, Sept. 24, at the Sherwood Sports Complex at 511 Bear Paw Drive from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Admission and parking are free. Sherwood Fest attracts more than 4,000 people, including attendees, volunteers, and vendors from all over the Natural State. The event also includes more than 50 food and regular vendors.
“We are excited to continue this annual tradition that Sherwood has had since 1977,” said special event coordinator Jamie Fuell. “It’s a big undertaking to plan this event, but it’s always so much fun for families.”
This year’s entertainment lineup includes many acts on the main stage and throughout the festival grounds. Festival organizers have selected local acts including Brian and Terri Kinder, Country Music Hall of Fame recipient Erin Enderlin and R@ndom. Dance, cheer, and gymnastics performance acts will include Ms. Karen’s Dance Studio, Impact Gymnastics, Studio P Gymnastics, and Marissa & Jacq’s Dancers. Members from the Arkansas Circus Acts will be showcasing their unique talents, including stilt walking, aerial performances, and a juggling workshop. Turn Up Dance Fitness with Sara Wilson will also appear on the main stage. All entertainment acts are subject to change.
“We are looking forward to seeing some familiar faces in our entertainment lineup, along with adding the new disc golf tournament,” said Fuell.
Conquer the Climb 5K
The Rotary Club of Sherwood is again hosting the Conquer the Climb 5K Fun Run and 1-Mile Family Walk/Run on the morning of Sherwood Fest. The proceeds from the registration fees benefit the Sherwood Rotary scholarship fund and youth programs. For more information about Conquer the Climb, email sherwoodfest5k@gmail.com or visit www.sherwood5K.com.
Castle Contest
Another great feature of Sherwood Fest is the Castle Contest. Castles may be built offsite by individuals or teams, and there are no age limits. Castles may be from any materials as long as they do not exceed 2’x2’x2’ and 40 pounds. Builders must bring finished castles to Sherwood Fest by noon. Judges will determine the best three castles and the public will have a chance to select a people’s choice castle. We will award winners at 2 p.m. on stage. One prize is available per winning castle. First place will receive a $300 Amazon gift card. Second place will receive a $200 Amazon gift card. Third place will receive a $100 Amazon gift card. People’s Choice will receive a $150 Amazon gift card.
“We saw some very creative castles last year and I look forward to seeing what this year brings,” said Fuell.
Disc Golf Tournament
This year, the Sherwood Classic 2022 Disc Golf tournament is presented by the Sherwood Disc Golf Association and will debut at the new Sherwood Forest Disc Golf course at 8:30 a.m. The course begins at 1111 W.
