Sewer System Rehabilitation
Sherwood Wastewater Utility has begun the rehabilitation of sewer lines. The project consists of 18 separate projects within an area south of Club Road, east of Oakhill Place to Verona Avenue and south to Wildwood Avenue. See a map of area above.
The Scope of Work
The engineering for this project was awarded to Crist Engineering of Little Rock. The wastewater lines chosen for this project have been inspected and recorded with video cameras. These lines have become a frequent source of trouble calls.
A contract for the system rehabilitation was awarded to Horseshoe Construction, Inc. of La Porte, Texas. Work has begun and the project is scheduled to be completed by October 2022. Horseshoe Construction has already sent a letter to the affected homes. This flyer serves as a second notice. The repairs will NOT cost homeowners any additional fees. Several methods for this rehabilitation are available and the method selected includes visual inspection and assessment of the condition of the current lines.
- Pipebursting – This trenchless method forces a replacement high-density polyethylene pipe (HDPE)into the existing pipe causing the pipe to burst, leaving the new pipe in place. The direct costs are generally lower than the traditional dig-and-replace method and this method is considered one of the most economical ways to replace a buried pipeline.
- Sliplining – This technique involves inserting a slightly smaller pipe into the existing damaged pipe. Grout is then injected into the space between the two pipes and allowed to harden.
Horseshoe Construction has asked that if anyone in your household has special needs i.e. disabilities, home health aides, or meals on wheels, please inform them so that considerations can be planned. Also, please secure pets while crews are working in your area.
Service Interruptions
Service may be interrupted for brief periods of time while the main line is being repaired or when the service line to your house is being reconnected.
