I would like to see the City of Sherwood prioritize and expand their communications to citizens. This website and the "Notify Me" features are under utilized.
It seems that the primary method of updates from the city is restricted to Facebook. While it is a popular platform, citizens should not be expected to sacrifice their privacy and use Facebook to see updates.
Some recent examples:
• It is Feb 10 and the website still has an alert regarding city offices being closed on Fri Feb 4 due to inclement weather.
• Trash schedule changes were not communicated via alert me.
• I had to call Public works to learn about recycling collection after inclement weather.
The city should not cede its communications solely to Facebook. That is short sighted in my opinion. Please enable citizens to receive timely communications via email and text (SMS).
